Bel and Bunna's Books in Lafayette - This beautiful children's bookstore doubles as a community spot with a play table, dolls, cozy pillows and regular story times and activities.  

Blackhawk Museum in Danville – Automotive gallery, old west and African art exhibits. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Bricks and Minifigs in Concord - Your little Lego lover will be in heaven when you come to shop and play here!

Chick-fil-A in Walnut Creek – Good sized indoor playground best for ages 3 and up.

Chuck E. Cheese in Concord –Arcade games and restaurant. Recommended for ages 2 and up.

Clayton Valley Bowl in Concord – Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Color Me Mine in Walnut Creek – Ceramic painting fun for little artists. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Danville Bowl - Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Dave & Buster's in Concord - Arcade for the kids plus restaurant and bar for the grown-ups looking for some fun. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Denica’s Real Food Kitchen in Walnut Creek – Casual café serving breakfast and lunch with a giant train table in a side room. Recommended for 1-6 years (for the train table – you can enjoy the restaurant at any age!).

Diablo Valley Bowl in Concord - Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Diablo Rock Gym in Concord – Indoor rock climbing fun! Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Five Little Monkey's in Walnut Creek - This toy store has everything your child needs and wants, including a sweet little play area to hang out in. Best for younger kids 6-7 years and under.

Flashlight Books in Walnut Creek - independent book store with kids section and several weekly story times!

Golden Skate Roller Rink in San Ramon - Recommended for ages 5 and up.

i heart art in Pleasant Hill – Art studio for kids (and adults) offering drop-in time as well as classes. Recommended for ages 18 months and up.

Lemon Blossom Creations in Walnut Creek - New children's art studio with open studio times (please check schedule online). For ages 2 and up.


Liberty Gymnastics in Concord – Drop-in open play from 11 am to 12 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Recommended for ages 1 and up.

Libraries in Clayton, Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek (2 of them!), Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga and Danville – your local public library is a great place to hang out! Most have small play areas and all offer story times and programs. Make sure to check the schedule and take advantage of this amazing resource. Recommended for all ages.

Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek – Live animals and exhibits, as well as a small playroom. Recommended for ages 2 and up.

McDonald’s in Concord (Clayton Road) and in Lafayette – Indoor playground best for ages 2 and up.

Mike Murphy Baseball in Walnut Creek - Indoor batting cage rentals. Best for ages 5-6 and up. 

Movie Theaters in Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Orinda and Danville – Going to the movies is always a treat for the kids plus most theaters offer $1 weekday morning movies during the summer months. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Orinda Books - Shop away while the little ones enjoy the cozy kids area with toys, Legos and books (weekly kids story time is on Thursdays at 10 am).

Paddock Bowl in Pacheco/Martinez - Recommended for ages 4 and up.

 

Pump it Up in Concord – Popular jump house party venue with slides and more. Open play weekdays. Recommended for ages 2 and up.

Q-zar Laser Tag in Concord – Laser tag and arcade games. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Round One in Pleasant Hill – Bowling and arcade games. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Round Table Pizza in Lafayette - There is a play structure to enjoy as well as pizza!  Recommended for ages 3 and up. In addition, Round Table Pizza Club House in Concord (on Treat) is newly remodeled with token arcade games and prizes. 

SensationAll Kids Gym in Concord – All abilities play space with trampoline, ball pit, swings and more. Recommended for ages 1-7 years.

Skipolini’s Pizza in Walnut Creek – Delicious pizza and an outdoor covered patio with a small play structure. (The Clayton location has a mostly uncovered outdoor patio and play structure.) Recommended for ages 3 and up.

Sky High Sports in Concord – Wall to wall trampoline fun in a huge air-conditioned facility. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

Spanish 4 Children in Walnut Creek – preschool that holds drop-in open play. Check their website for hours. Recommended for ages 1-5 years.

The Jungle Fun and Adventure in Concord – Have a blast in the enormous indoor play structure, slides, jumpy house and arcade. Recommended for ages 2 and up.


Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek – View adorable dogs and cats in their “condos,” munch on popcorn they often have available and grab a coffee. Don’t forget to put a few dollars in the donation bin before you go! Recommended for ages 2 and up.

Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society – Typically open a few days per month, make sure to check the schedule before you go! Recommended for ages 1 and up.
