Summer is around the corner and many parents are still scrambling to schedule our kids' summer days (despite our best intentions to have it done by now!). Never fear however, because Diablo Kid has some favorites, with space still available, to recommend. You can't go wrong with one of these awesome programs, with something for every age (3 and up) and interest:
BrickSpace Lego® STEAM Camps
For ages 4-12. Half-days offered in Concord, half-day and full day options in Benicia. These super fun, hands-on camps are offered at Bricks and Minifigs in Concord, as well as the BrickSpace facility in Benicia. Campers learn by doing - whether exploring their own ideas in free-build or working as a team in an instructor-led project, they experience the same processes of trial and error, success and failure, reflection and breakthroughs that artists and engineers in a variety of careers experience each day.
Camp Brainy Bunch
In Orinda, for kids entering 1st through 6th grade. Full day. Have fun, learn a lot, and make new friends at Camp Brainy Bunch this summer! Camp Brainy Bunch brings together the best part of school (learning!) with the best part of summer camp (fun!). East Bay camps in Orinda and Berkeley, for ages 3-10. Full day (with half-day option for preschool ages). Think of Camp Doodles like an incubator for kids, where they grow their creative intelligence through Making & Art. The Spark Program (1st – 5th grade) encourages your camper to think about how things work, and come up with their ideas to build. The Primo Program (ages 3-5) is inspired by the Reggio philosophy where kids discover who they are through experiential learning.
Camp Gan Israel
In Walnut Creek, for ages 2 and up; full-day with half-day option for preschoolers. Camp Gan Israel of Contra Costa is passionate about providing children with the ultimate safe summer camp experience. Known for quality programming, professional standards and an inclusive atmosphere, with exceptional staff devoted to instilling Jewish pride and excitement through creative, fun and engaging activities. Cooking Round the World Summer Camps
In Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord and Danville, for ages 5-11. Full or half-day, depending on location. Cooking Round the World summer camp immerses a child in a cooking and cultural exploration. Each Cooking Round the World camp day they cook and eat 4 to 8 recipes, read a folktale, play an international/national game, observe a cooking demonstration, and learn to think critically about the foods just cooked. In the afternoon watch a slide presentation, play a trivia game, and bake desserts. Fun and yum!
Galileo Innovation Camps
Locations in Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Danville, Pleasanton, Lafayette, and Orinda, for PreK and up. Full day. Play-Well Summer Camps
In Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Danville, Concord, Martinez & Orinda and more in East Bay. Half-day, ages 5 and up. Kids are already naturally gifted creators, then they get added inspiration from Play-Well's specially trained instructors. They dive into the massive collections of LEGO® parts, and while they build elaborate objects, structures and vehicles, they explore fundamental principles of engineering and physics. They also learn to collaborate and create without fear of mistakes. The experience is joyful, the impact long-lasting.
Poison Apple Productions Summer Camp
In Martinez, for ages 4-14. Half-day. Kids ages 4-6 can have a blast at “Fairytale Fun in the Sun” Preschool Theater Summer Camp, and older ones ages 7-14 can spend the summer at the theater taking on a favorite Disney classic: “Pinocchio!” With no strings attached, this summer is sure to be filled with fun! Spanish 4 Children
In Walnut Creek, for ages 3-10. Half-day. Children are eager to learn new languages, and at Spanish 4 Children they will learn Spanish in a hands-on interactive and stimulating environment, with singing, creative art, playing games, storytelling, exploration, and so much more. Super flexible full-time camp in Walnut Creek, age 4 and up. Every aspect of the program is designed to put kids in charge of their own learning experience.
