April 8, 2018
Earth Day is a wonderful reason to get outside with your family, help the environment, provide community service and set an example for your children. Fortunately, we are expecting stellar weather this weekend and there is no lack of activities in our area of the East Bay! Below is a list of fun, free events open to the public in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Clayton, Martinez, Lafayette, Orinda and Danville.
9 am to 12 pm - Clayton Cleans Up. Residents can help toss the trash at this year’s event. Rain or shine, check in at Clayton City Hall to get a volunteer shirt and garbage bag. Fill the bag to the brim, then return to City Hall for a free barbecue celebration!
9:30 am to 12:00 pm - Orinda Action Day. Lend a hand to beautify the city. Check in at Orinda Library Plaza. Volunteers receive free t-shirts! Return to Library Plaza by noon with completed project results to enjoy music and light lunch.
11 am to 1 pm - 8th Annual Earth Day Event at Danville Library and Town Green. Eco-friendly activities and crafts for everyone including a "rocket launching station," live worms, racing solar cars, prizes and more! Take a naturalist-led creek walk, enjoy the East Bay Regional Parks Mobile Visitor Center, meet Mr. Funnelhead, visit information tables and play the Earth Day prize wheel.
11:30 am to 4:30 pm - Annual Wildlife Festival at Wagner Ranch in Orinda. Enjoy the beautiful historic ranch and 18-acre nature preserve, rarely open to the public. Join a variety of activities for all ages, especially kids. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, or bring your own picnic.
